What is Tallow?

Tallow is gently rendered fat from ruminant animals. It has a long history of use in skincare and various other applications. Rendering tallow involves gently heating the fat to separate the purer oils from the rest of the tissue. The tallow we use is ethically sourced from grass-fed and grass-finished cows in Wisconsin. 

Tallow has been traditionally used in skincare by our ancestors before the advent of chemicals and petroleum-based products. Its natural composition makes it a valuable ingredient in skincare products, believed to have moisturizing and healing properties. 

Our tallow balm is crafted using traditional practices, providing a fully natural and sustainable alternative to modern skincare. Sourced from grass-fed and grass-finished cows, it not only aligns with the trend of embracing traditional methods but also caters to individuals who prioritize environmentally friendly and ethically sourced ingredients.

Our Ingredients

Our balm combines the natural power of 100% grass-fed tallow with organic extra virgin olive oil. Studies have shown that tallow from this source contains four times the vitamin E and three to five times more conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) than those fed a conventional diet. This is why we source our tallow from 100% grass-fed and grass-finished cows raised right here in Southeast Wisconsin on small, family farms.

We combine our tallow with organic gently cold-pressed 𝙚𝙭𝙩𝙧𝙖 𝙫𝙞𝙧𝙜𝙞𝙣 𝙤𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙤𝙞𝙡 to enhance the spreadability of our balm. It also adds its own healing properties such as soothing, cleansing, and moisturizing.
